Levels & XP
Everything you do in the world quietly earns you XP. There are no classes, no skill trees, no grinding meta - levels are a measure of how much you’ve played, and they unlock clan creation.
How to earn XP

That’s it. Build your base, dig your mines, fight the night - you’re always progressing. Blocks broken or placed inside protected regions don’t count. At level 20, placing and breaking ordinary blocks stops giving XP. Ores always pay, at every level, and combat and other sources are never capped.
When you level up, everyone on the server hears about it. 🎉
The level curve
Max level is 40. Total XP needed for each level:

What levels do
- Level 5 unlocks clan creation (see Clans).
- Resilience - every level shaves 1% off all incoming damage: mobs, falls, fire, other players. At level 50 that’s 50% less damage taken (damage never rounds below half a heart, so nothing ever tickles for zero).
- Better woodcutting - higher levels can fell bigger trees.
- Your level is shown next to your name in chat.
- Your activity also feeds your clan’s level, which grows your clan’s protected territory.
What levels don’t do: no bonus damage dealt, no speed boosts, no gated gear. Your sword swings exactly like vanilla - levelling just makes you harder to kill.
Clan levels
While you’re in a clan, every point of XP you earn is also added to your clan’s XP. Clans have their own curve (max level 10):

The more your clan plays together, the bigger your protected home becomes.
Clan owners can also pay Marigold (Clan Registrar) to buy the next clan level instantly: 0.1 gold per XP remaining to the next threshold (minimum 100 gold), paid entirely from personal gold or clan gold.
