Clans
A clan is your crew: a shared name, a clan-only chat channel, and - most importantly - a protected territory where only clan members can build, break or open anything.
Creating a clan
You don’t type a command to create a clan - you build it.
Requirements:
- You are level 5 or higher
- You have 1,000 gold
- You’re not already in a clan
- You’re in open land: at least 50 blocks clear of protected server regions (like spawn) and at least 120 blocks from any other clan’s territory
The ritual: place four gold blocks in a plus shape, then place an iron block in the middle (the iron block goes down last):
[gold]
[gold] [iron] [gold]
[gold]
The moment the iron block is placed, your clan is founded:
- The structure transforms into dark prismarine - a permanent monument at the heart of your land
- 1,000 gold is spent
- A spherical territory (radius 33 blocks to start) is claimed around the monument
- Your clan is named “
<you>’s Clan” - rename it with/clan setup <name>
If any requirement isn’t met, the game tells you why and nothing is consumed.
Territory
- Inside your territory, only clan members can build, break blocks, open chests, use buckets, or interact with anything. Doors, buttons and pressure plates still work for everyone, so visitors aren’t trapped.
- The owner can open the territory temporarily with
/clan protection off- anyone may build until it’s turned back on with/clan protection on. Handy when a friend outside the clan is helping with a build. The clan shop stays members-only either way, and/clan infoshows a warning while the door stands open. - Explosions never damage blocks inside clan territory.
- The border stops mechanical grief too: water and lava poured outside
cannot flow in, fire from outside cannot spread in or burn anything
inside, and pistons (and flying machines) stall at the edge - they
can neither push blocks in nor drag yours out. Your own farms, moats and
machines inside the territory work normally, and none of this switches
off with
/clan protection off. - You’ll get a message (and a chime) when entering or leaving any clan’s land.
- Territory is a sphere centred on your monument. It grows with your clan level - from 33 blocks at level 1 up to 60 blocks at level 10. Every bit of XP any member earns also feeds the clan. See Levels & XP.
- One claim is not the limit. A clan can buy up to four more, staked alongside the land it already holds - see Extending your claim.
Extending your claim
One territory is enough for most clans, but a clan that outgrows its land can buy more. An extension is an additional claim of its own, staked close enough to land you already hold that the two overlap and read as one larger territory. Everything true inside your founding claim is true inside an extension: members-only building, no explosions, no fire or fluids from outside, pistons stalled at the border.
A clan can hold up to 4 extensions on top of its founding claim, and each one costs more than the last:
| Extension | Cost |
|---|---|
| 1st | 5,000 gold |
| 2nd | 10,000 gold |
| 3rd | 20,000 gold |
| 4th | 40,000 gold |
Only the clan leader can stake one, and the gold comes from their personal purse - never the clan coffers.
Finding a spot
Stand where you’d like the new claim and run /clan extend. It surveys the
ground and either tells you the site is suitable and what the next
extension costs, or names what’s wrong and how far to walk. Any member can
ask, so you can scout for your leader before they make the trip.
A site works when all of this is true:
- It’s in the same world as land your clan already holds. Extensions can’t be staked inside a pocket.
- It’s more than 40 and fewer than 55 blocks from the centre of one of your clan’s claims, measured flat across the ground. That band always overlaps the claim you’re extending from, so your territory grows as one connected shape instead of scattered islands.
- It’s at least 50 blocks clear of protected server regions.
- It’s at least 120 blocks from any other clan’s territory. Your own claims are exempt - overlapping your own land is the whole point.
Extensions chain. Once one is standing it counts as an anchor for the next, so a clan can walk its border outwards in 40-55 block steps.
Staking it
Place four gold blocks in a plus shape around a diamond block - the founding ritual with diamond in the middle instead of iron, and the diamond goes down last:
[gold]
[gold] [diamond] [gold]
[gold]
The moment the diamond lands, the gold is spent, the structure turns to dark prismarine, and the ground is yours. If anything is wrong - wrong spot, not the leader, not enough gold - the game says so, and nothing is consumed.
A new extension is the same size as the rest of your claims and grows with them: every claim a clan holds tracks the clan level, 33 blocks at level 1 up to 60 at level 10.
Seeing and giving up claims
| Command | Who | What |
|---|---|---|
/clan claim show | member | Outline your whole territory for ten seconds - glass along the ground, light overhead |
/clan claim remove | owner | Surrender the extension you’re standing in, after a confirmation |
/clan info lists every extension you hold with its coordinates, and how
many of your extension slots are used.
Removal refunds nothing and can’t be undone. You have to be standing
inside the extension you want gone, and anything scoped to it - its shop
included - goes with it. The founding claim can never be removed; the
only way to give that up is /clan disband.
A shop for each claim
A shop belongs to a claim rather than to the clan, so every extension can host one of its own - a clan with two claims can run two shops. Found the second one well inside the extension, away from the band where it overlaps your other land, so there’s no question which claim the storeroom stands on.
Managing your clan
| Command | Who | What |
|---|---|---|
/clan | anyone | Your clan’s name and description |
/clan info | member | Level, XP, gold, member list, home region and extensions |
/clan extend | member | Survey the ground you’re standing on for a claim extension |
/clan claim show | member | Outline your whole territory for ten seconds |
/clan claim remove | owner | Surrender the extension you’re standing in - nothing is refunded |
/clan setup <name> | owner | Rename the clan (max 24 chars) |
/clan invite <player> | owner | Invite someone (invites expire after 1 day) |
/clan join <id> | invitee | Accept an invitation |
/clan kick <player> | owner | Remove a member or cancel their invite |
/clan leave | member | Leave the clan |
/clan disband | owner | Dissolve the clan - territory is unclaimed, clan gold goes to the owner |
/clan protection <on|off> | owner | Open or close the territory to outside builders (bare /clan protection shows the state) |
/clan sethome | owner | Set the clan home point (must be inside your territory) |
/clan home | member | Teleport to the clan home (costs gold - see below) |
/clan tpcost | member | Check what the teleport would cost from here |
/c <message> | member | Clan-only chat |
Clan home teleports
/clan home costs gold based on distance - roughly 1 gold per 10 blocks
(minimum 10, maximum 100), or a flat 200 gold across dimensions. There’s
a short cooldown between uses, it’s blocked for 20 seconds after taking
damage, and it won’t fire if you’re already within 10 blocks of home.
Things to know
- One clan per player.
- The owner can’t leave - only disband.
- Clan chat (
/c) is only visible to clanmates and gets its own sound. - Friendly fire and PvP still follow the normal PvP consent rules.
- Marigold (Clan Registrar) can advance your clan one level for gold: 0.1 gold per XP still needed for the next level (minimum 100 gold). Only the clan owner can pay, from their personal purse or the clan coffers (whichever alone can cover the full cost - they don’t combine). Ask her when you have enough.
