Vendors
Dotted around spawn (and wherever else the admins put them) youโll find vendors - friendly villagers with a shop. Right-click one to open it.
How the shop works
The shop is split in two:
- Top section (green): things the vendor sells. Click to buy a bundle - the gold leaves your balance, the items appear in your inventory.
- Bottom section (gold): things the vendor buys. Click to sell a bundle from your inventory and pocket the gold.
Each click trades one bundle (the size and price are written on the item). Click as many times as you like.
Why this is great
All that dirt from digging out your base? The gravel? The mountains of rotten flesh? Vendors turn junk into gold. Combined with gold from monster kills, an honest day of digging and night-fighting adds up fast - that 1,000-gold clan is closer than you think.
Vendors also sell a few conveniences - torches, bread, arrows, a boat for the road.
Vendors normally pay a quarter of what theyโd charge you for the same thing - the spread is what stops a shop being a money printer. Logs and raw fish are the exception: they pay half. Woodcutting and a morning on the water are work. The Materials Merchant takes every kind of log and stem, exotics included, and sells most of them back - cherry, pale oak and mangrove included, so a roof no longer means a trip to find the biome. The two nether stems he buys but will not sell. The Fishmonger takes cod, salmon, tropical fish and pufferfish at four to five gold a fish.
Selling a mountain of the same goods in one day pays less and less - the server softens vendor (and Appraiser) buy prices when a material is dumped hard. Casual sales are unaffected; industrial cash-outs are not. Staff detail: Vendor sell saturation.
The bartering books
Monsters sometimes drop books on bartering - Novice, Adept and Expert, in rising rarity. Hold one while trading and every price sways your way: vendors pay you more and charge you less (5%, 10% or 15%). Only your best held book counts. Yes, merchants really do respect a reader.
Boris, and the seeds
Boris sells seeds - thirteen of them, one per biome, and he would rather not be asked where they come from.
Right-click a seed while standing on ground that is yours and it is spent: the land turns that biome for twenty blocks around you. Grass and leaves change colour, the sky and fog change with them, the weather changes its mind, and snow starts falling or stops. It is permanent. There is no second seed that puts a hillside back the way it was.
The rules are short:
- Only inside your clanโs claim or a pocket you own. Nowhere else.
- Stand near the edge and the change stops at your boundary - your neighbourโs land is not yours to repaint.
- Seeds change how land looks, not what spawns on it. Boris has nothing that turns your claim into a mob farm, and would not sell it if he did.
Boris buys seeds back, at the same quarter-value everything else fetches. An unplanted seed keeps its worth; a sold one does not.
The fine print
- Prices vary per vendor and can change over time - check the shop.
- Vendors are protected: they canโt be hurt, moved, or traded with like normal villagers.
